Guide to Wedding Ceremony Music

• Prelude: Music played before the official start of the ceremony as your guests arrive and are seated. Usually 20-30 minutes. I suggest choosing about 8 songs for prelude. (I may only play about 5 of these, but I like to be extra prepared!)
• Wedding Party Processional: Entrance of the wedding/bridal party. This may include important family members (grandparents, parents, etc.), bridesmaids, groomsmen, attendants, flower people, the ring bearer, etc. "Canon in D" is a classic choice.
• Processional: Entrance of the bride (or groom/marrier). This used to always be Wagner's Wedding March, but currently trending favorites are "Can't Help Falling in Love," "Perfect" by Ed Sheeran, and "Lover" by Taylor Swift.
  • Optional--Music during the ceremony: Background music during a candle-lighting ceremony, ring warming ceremony, etc.
• Recessional: Exit music. I recommend something joyful! "Here Comes the Sun" by The Beatles is my personal favorite.

• Cocktail hour: Background music for an additional hour after the ceremony.
